Theme: Music in Animation
In cinema, music is never just an accompaniment to image - it is its invisible partner, a structure providing rhythm, an emotional charge or added narrative meaning. In animation, this connection is even stronger: just like an animator needs to draw everything starting from an empty piece of paper, a musician must also create every tone, every noise or every movement from scratch. This theme program explores the ways different kinds of music shape different animated films - from classical scores to jazz, from musicals to experimental and abstract forms of visual music.
