DONT KNOW WHAT: Is this a serious avantgarde film for an intellectual audience or an entertaining animation film for a larger audience? Definitely it shifts between several categories: between life action and animation (single frame editing). Between language and music (language is transformed into music). Between serious formal interest in the film image and a humorous approach to it. Between conceptual planning and playful experimentation. Between intellect and emotion. So, no wonder, when the audience might say: DONT KNOW WHAT.

Thomas RenoldnerBiographyBorn in Linz in 1960, artist, filmmaker, musician. First Super-8-films in the age of 16, later studied animation at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna (1989-1994) and isnow the Leader of the Animation Lab at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Numerous animated / experimental / documentary short films, music videos and a few commercials,and producer of films of befriended artists.Also theorist and curator of film programmes, co-curator of Animation Avantgarde competition at Vienna ShortsFilmfestival and director of the 2 Days Animation Festival in Vienna.
