In the past two years Zagreb's favourite cinematic picnic, Animafest Open Air has become a perfect weekend destination for all generations

Zagreb's favourite cinematic picnic, Animafest Open Air has become in the past two years a must, a perfect weekend destination for all generations, introducing across the most beautiful parks of Zagreb the amazing festival atmosphere coming up in June. The first Animafest 2017 open air is scheduled for this Saturday, 27 May (9pm) at Zrinjevac - Persepolis – one of the most beloved animated films in the past decade, an adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's autobiographic graphic novel about the life of an urban family surrounded by revolutionary social changes in Iran, and their daughter's coming of age and emancipation. Animafest is near, it's time for blankets and hampers. The screening is, of course, free.
Should you miss this chance for an outdoor cinematic get-together, the atmosphere of Animafest Open Air will repeat on 3 June (Saturday, 9pm) at Ribnjak, with a steampunk, alternative historical adventure April and the Extraordinary World, on 4 June (Sunday, 9.30pm) at Gradec with the 2016 Animafest Grand Prix winners The Magic Mountain and Endgame, and on 5 June (Monday, 9.30pm) again at Gradec with the adventures of the most famous comic book sailor, Corto Maltese in Siberia. Join us also for an interesting programme at Art Park (Tomićeva 5) between 6 and 8 June.
