ANIMAFEST INSIGHTS: EXCLUSIVE ONLINE PREMIERE OF AWARD-WINNING CYCLISTS BY VELJKO POPOVIĆ!

Starting from this weekend, the Animafest Insights project features this animated film by Veljko Popović free of charge throughout seven days.

A comedy spiked with eroticism and shades of summer, capturing the spirit of a small Mediterranean town, Cyclists by Veljko Popović, is the upcoming treat on the menu of Animafest’s comprehensive online project – Animafest Insights. Cyclists is a real gem of Croatian animation and an homage to Vasko Lipovac, the iconic artist of the Split art scene, distinctive and known far and wide for his sculptures of unique shapes and colours.

This is a film of an unusual aesthetic, charmingly pleasing with a line-up of lavish erotic evocations and a vibrant colour palette, which earned it the Best Croatian Film Award at Animafest 2018, followed by many other honours at prestigious festivals, such as Annecy and Hiroshima.

Starting from this weekend, the Animafest Insights project features online, for the first time (until Saturday May 16th), free of charge, this animated film by Veljko Popović throughout seven days, accompanied by an interview with the filmmaker, conducted by Animafest’s artistic director Daniel Šuljić.

So far the Animafest Insights has screened interviews and films by Eva Cvijanović (The Hedgehog’s Home), Alice Guimarães and Mónica Santos (Amelia & Duarte), Alice Saey (Mark Lotterman – Happy) and Tomek Popakul (Acid Rain), and the entire content is still accessible to interested viewers in our video gallery.
