Samurai Ballerina -L’étoile de Paris en fleur

Paris in the early 20th century. Two young Japanese women live there. Fujiko is expected to become a devoted wife, yet secretly dreams of becoming a painter. Chizuru, born into a samurai family and skilled in naginata, longs to study ballet. Reunited by chance in Paris after meeting as children in Yokohama, they begin supporting each other’s ambitions. With help from Olga, a former Russian ballerina, Chizuru starts lessons. When Fujiko’s guardian uncle suddenly disappears, they face a turning point. Though they encounter barriers as foreigners from the East, they continue pursuing their dreams.

Goro Taniguchi

Born in 1966 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Goro Taniguchi entered the animation industry after graduating from the Japan Institute of the Moving Image. He made his television series directorial debut with Infinite Ryvius (1999). Known for powerful, emotionally resonant entertainment that deeply moves audiences, he has cultivated a passionate fan base, with the hugely successful Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion series among his signature works. Most recently, One Piece Film Red (2022) became a nationwide blockbuster, leaving a strong impression with its overwhelming fusion of music and visuals.
