The Motherless Egg
A dog is cheerfully watching little chicks hatching, and upon returning to his dog house he finds an egg in his bowl. He tries to take it back to the henhouse, but the chickens refuse and the Cock chases him away. Saddened, he seeks advice from the Squirrel, who trusts a dove with the egg. However, the dove is too small, so the Squirrel secretly takes the egg back to the dog. When the egg starts to vibrate, the dog gets frightened and throws it away. But with the cold and the rain comes guilt – the dog finally warms the egg with care, a happy little chick hatches next to its new dad.

In recent years, Elena has illustrated many children’s magazines and books for publishers in Russia, Germany, Taiwan and South Korea. One of the books she wrote and illustrated, Where a Little Bird Lives, has become extremely popular and it runs in print for over ten years. Elena is a screenwriter, illustrator and award-winning animation director. She graduated from the renowned Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Since then she has worked as a director, animator and designer in Stuttgart.
