Carla and Her Legs

Carla is fed up. Nobody takes notice of her gymnastic talent, but only of her legless existence. Legs – what are they for? Being just a temp at the variety, a servant of the glorious Show Girls seems good enough. Whereas, from the variety director’s perspective, her acrobatic talent as a part of the show can never be an option. Only when his whole business is in danger does he urge Carla into a performance. Could this be her big break?

Christoph Büttner

Christoph Büttner (1986, Frankfurt, Oder) graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation from Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and is currently living in Schwerin. As animator and filmmaker, he creates digital animated shorts with strong analogue aesthetics. Both his debut film Carla and her Legs, and his graduation film In His Mercy (2021) bear semblance to analogue woodcut prints, solely in black and white. This may have something to do with his addiction to black and white movies, which let him focus on composition and lighting, where colors overwhelm Christoph’s creative mind.
