ANIMATION SCHOOLS | Best Animation School - Lodz Film School

The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź

The Polish National Film School in Łódź was established in 1948 and is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious film schools in the world. Since its founding, the school has been placing special emphasis on practical work in its teaching programme.

Its mission is to educate directors and cinematographers as lighting designers, still photographers, editors, screenwriters, producers and actors in live-action, documentary and animated films.

Students gather practical and theoretical knowledge, and shoot their own projects on film or digitally under artistic guidance of acclaimed Polish and international filmmakers. The school takes great pride in its unique master-apprentice relationship, which has resulted in an amazing array of projects made by its alumni.

In 2019 we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Animation & Special Effects Faculty. We teach design, as well as how to make animation films and special effects using various types of digital and analogue cameras and computer programs. The teaching program covers: film form production, film special effects, direction of photography, cinematographic animation, graphic design and computer animation, aspects of sound and film editing, direction of photography technology and techniques.

Skilful storytelling, bold themes, diversity of animation techniques, experiment and improvisation are the distinguishing features of animated short films from our school.
