Family passes at a regular price (1+1 = 100 kuna; 2+1 = 150 kuna) can be purchased at the ticket offices of cinemas Europa, Tuškanac and Kinoteka.
But what does Animafest's Children and Youth Programme, taking place mainly at Kinoteka (Kordunska 1) in the morning (9:30 and 11:30) and afternoon hours (15:30 and 17:30), have to offer?
1. Children's Film Competition consists of four segments categorised into age groups (4-7, 7-10, 10-14 and 14+). The segments take 50 to 90 minutes and are screened at Kinoteka (Kordunska 1). The line-up is an international competition comprising 47 films from all over the world. The films were selected by a media psychologist. This year's selection focuses on girls and boys who suddenly find their inner strength to change the surrounding world. The first programme (age 4-7) is full of gentle stories about little heroes and their friendship who bravely cope with the challenges with the help of small tricks and a big heart. The films for younger schoolchildren (age 7 – 10) carry a simple, but a very important message: we are all different, yet we are all the same, the third programme (age 10 – 14) contains a lot of action and humour suitable for the age, where the heroes rediscover the beauty of nature or their true identity. Finally, the youth programme (14 +) contains films about the topics young people share and find important, such as building self-respect, discovering one's own boundaries and strength, imaginary worlds, current events, scientific bits and humour.
2. The family programme is ideal for children accompanied by parents and consists of a selection of Russian fairy tale adaptations (nine films in total duration of 83 minutes, screenings at Kinoteka at 11:30 and 15:30 on 9 and 10 June); a programme suitable for 5+ and 7+ (on 6 and 7 June at 17:30, Kinoteka), two films about Gruffalo, a popular picture book character (9 June at Kinoteka, films suitable for children age 4 or above), and a lavish feature animation Long Way North (8 June, 17:30, Kinoteka). And to wrap up, a selection of award-winning films from the 7th international children and youth animation film festival in Varaždin (VAFI) (10 June at 13:00 at Kinoteka).
3. Animation workshop (8+) takes place from 5 to 9 June, 17:00-19:00 at Tuškanac cinema, with obligatory application at: email@example.com.
4. Animafest in Your Neighbourhood – free screenings of feature films April and the Extraordinary World and Long Way North at Culture and Information Centre Maksimir (Švarcova 16, 3 June at 21:00, 10 June at 11:00), Dubrava Centre for Culture (Avenija Dubrava 51a, 3 June at 21:00, 10 June at 10:00), KUC Travno (Božidara Magovca 17, 11 June at 10:00).
