Synopsis

A dog witnesses mass atrocities in a war-torn city and tries to help human souls reincarnate. This animation has two versions: an interactive version and a film version. The artist considers this project to be a very personal work. Presented here is the film version, produced by the artist himself playing the interactive version, controlling the dog to walk, hide and witness, and recording it.

Alan Kwan

Working at the crossroads of cinema and new media, artist and video game designer Alan Kwan creates immersive and enigmatic games designed to elicit feelings of heartbreak, anguish, fear, and the sublime. His projects have won the Honorary Mention Award at Prix Ars Electronica, the Excellence in Innovation Award at the indiePlay China Indie Game Awards, as well as the Best Serious Game Award and the Honorary Mention Award at the GWB Game Awards. His game The Hallway was also part of the permanent art collection of the Hong Kong M+ Museum. Originally from Hong Kong, he is currently based in Chicago and is an assistant professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
