Synopsis
I try to set this work – a film using texts, or a film-book – between watching and reading. This film is dedicated to J. L. Borges, a great artist, who translated The Happy Princeby Oscar Wilde at his early childhood, became one of the greatest writers of the 20th century and continued to publish the works by dictation even after losing his eyesight. (R. O.)
Ryo Orikasa was born in 1986 in Ibaraki, Japan. His film Datum Point (2015) received several awards, including the Ōfuji Noburō Award, The Mainichi Film Awards 2015, the Golden Zagreb Award at Animafest Zagreb 2016, and the Best Experimental or Abstract Animation Award at the Ottawa International Animation Festival 2016. His recent film, Misérable Miracle (2023) was inspired by the work of Henri Michaux.
