Synopsis

An architectural adaption of Shadows on Lightsexclusively for MSU Zagreb. In the MSU-windows, black slightly becomes invaded by greyish/bluish planar structures: and these planar structures suddenly become invaded by black again/by shadows that fill the original planar windows with space and life. In this work darkness and shadows are rather connected with architectural structure and life, and not with (often) negative connotations. Our society's pursuit for light and brightness is deeply connected to its dark and inconceivable counterpart – the shadow: its existence defines space or "fakes" it in various analogue and digital art forms in diverse and incomprehensible ways.

Reinhold Bidner

Reinhold Bidner was born in Salzburg. He studied at the University for Applied Sciences and Technologies in Salzburg (multimedia art), at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee, Scotland (animation and electronic media). Since 2007 he has been freelancing in the fields of video, photography, animation, media design and media art, either as an individual or in the frame of the art collectives 1n0ut and Goldextra.
