According to certain tradition, on Mount Sinai God issued commandments to Moses that say, “Thou shalt not kill.” Nietzsche, however, tells us that God is dead. Human beings created God, but they also killed him. We give birth to ourselves, but also kill ourselves.
Shiwei Ding was born in Heilongjiang Province of China and graduated from the China Academy of Art with a BFA in 2012. He currently lives and works in Hangzhou, China. His works, which mainly include experimental animation and video installation, have been shown at: the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Quebec, Canada; Run Run Shaw Creative Media Center, City University of Hong Kong; DAC Digital Art Center, Taipei; CAFA Art Museum, Beijing, China; Inna Contemporary Art Space, Hangzhou, China. His works have been selected for the international competition section and media art section of the Rotterdam International Festival, Tampere Film Festival, Up and coming International Film Festival, and the International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal.
