Ivana Bošnjak (1983, Karlovac) graduated in graphic arts from the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts, animation from the Norwegian university in Volda, and was trained in puppet animation at the Tallinn Academy of Fine Art. She is a co-author of the graduation film Crossed Sild (2010), which screened and won awards at many international festivals. Since then she has been professionally pursuing puppet film. With Bonobostudio she modelled and partly animated Božidar Trkulja’s film In the Beginning of Time (2012), modelled Dalibor Barić’s Amnesiac on the Beach (2013), and in 2014 with her husband Thomas Johnson she completed her debut film Simulacra, which screened at many international festivals, earning thus far eight awards. In 2014 Ivana modelled the puppets for B. Trkulja’s latest film Last Challenge at Zagreb film, and attended the puppet workshop Between Motion and Stillness, mentored by Suzie Templeton at Ljubljana’s Animateka festival. Ivana works on puppet commercials and lectures at workshops for children and students, particularly stressing two workshops with the great British animator Tim Allen.
