Synopsis

A poor man sends his three sons to work as servants, in order to attain nice clothes, wine and a wife. The faith of the smallest boy, Martin, is the hardest, as he performs his task on a toad, but after all his award will be the nicest possible. The toad was in fact a transfigured princess, and Martin thus becomes a king.

Mária Horváth

Mária Horváth (1952) graduated as a goldsmith at the Vocational Middle School of Arts in Pécs. In 1971 she joined the Kecskemét Film Studio in its infancy. She has two daughters, two granddaughters and still some film plans. In 1990 she received a Balázs Béla Award. In her films she intends to create a synthesis of poetry and animation. She received many awards for her film Miracles of the Night (1982), Door 8 (1983), Hungarian Folk Tales II (1985), Wide Man’s Friends (1995), Songs of Small People (1996), Hungarian Folk Tales Series VI (2002) and many others.
