Synopsis

Part figurative, part abstract, Drux Flux is a short comprising of fast-flowing images showing modern people crushed by industry. Inspired by One-Dimensional Man, by H. Marcuse, Ushev deconstructs industrial scenes and their terrifying geometry to show the inhumanity of progress.


 

Theodore Ushev

Théodore Ushev (1968) studied graphic arts and started out designing publicity posters, working as an artistic director for magazines and teaching. After moving to Montreal in 1999, he became involved in exploring new media design, an interest that led him straight to animation. In 2003 he made Vertical as part of the Cineweb Competition held by the NFB, followed by films Tower Bawher, Tzaritza and The Man Who Waited in 2006, as well as Drux Flux in 2008.
