Hisko Hulsing (1971, Amsterdam)is engaged inwriting, directing, painting and animating of his animated films, as well as composing the orchestral soundtracks for them. His films Seventeen and Junkyard were invited to numerous festivals and won many awards, including the Grand Prize at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. In 2014 Hulsing and his team of animators made large animated sequences for Cobain: Montage of Heck, the first authorised documentary about Kurt Cobain. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, was theatrically released by Universal Pictures and streamed on HBO.Hisko Hulsing directed and production designed Undone, an animated series for adults for Amazon Prime and Michael Eisner’s Tornante. The first season of Undone premiered in September 2019. It appeared in Top Ten lists of magazines like the New York Times, Vanity Fair and Time Magazine among others and became the best reviewed animated series of 2019 on Rotten Tomatoes.Season 2 of Undone was released on April 29 2022, to great critical acclaim. It was nominated for the Critic’s Choice Award.In 2022 Hulsing directed and production designed the bonus episode of The Sandman for DC Comics, Warner Bros and Netflix called A Dream of a Thousand Cats. It was released on August 19 in 2022 and was viewed over 30 million times in the first 8 weeks.Both Undone and The Sandman – A Dream of a Thousand Cats were nominated for Annie Awards in 2023.
